Magnetized Pastilles
Here is a
small project that will only take few minutes to realize with children.
Material
Transparent
glass pastilles
Pictures
from magazines, photos or drawings
Crafting glue
(Mod Podge type) and brush
Magnets
Glue stick
(Silicone or Epoxy)
Steps
Trace the
shape of the pastille on the picture
Cut out the
picture 3mm (1/8") smaller
than the outline
Apply the
crafting glue on the flat surface of the pastille
Deposit the
face of the picture on the crafting glue and press to avoid air bubbles
Let dry for approximately 5 minutes
Apply a
first layer of crafting glue to the endorsement of the picture
Apply a
second layer of crafting glue when the first one is dry
Stick the
magnet with the stick glue to the endorsement of the picture when both the
layers of crafting glue are dry.
Let dry for 30 minutes
You can now
use your magnetized pastille on your refrigerator door or on a memos panel.
You will
note that the pastille acts like a magnifying glass; this is why your picture
is amplified.

Candle holder
in mosaic
Here is a
project that you may realize in few hours.
Your
drawing may have a precise shape (e.g. flower, butterfly), or structured lines.
You may also stick pieces randomly.
Material
Safety glasses
Glass pieces
and/or glass pastilles
"Wheels" glass cutter
Triolyse Glue
Transparent
glass (round or square shape for the candle holder)
Premixed ceramic
grout
Grout
trowel
Sponge
Candle (lantern
or tea)
Steps
Draw a
pattern on a sheet and stick it inside the glass with masking tape, except if
you choose to stick pieces randomly.
Prepare
glass pieces by cutting them with the wheels glass cutter. Always wear safety glasses.
To cut, place
a glass piece between the wheels and press. The piece will break under the
pressure.
Stick the
glass pieces by following the pattern. The easiest way is to begin with the
main subject.
Stick the
glass pieces with Triolyse Glue. This
one works in two stages. First, apply the activator to
the candle holder, and then apply one drop on the glass piece and stick. The glue is settled within 15 seconds.
Apply the
grout with the trowel.
Wait 5 to
10 minutes.
Wash the
exceeding grout using a wet sponge (do not put too much water).
Clean the
white film the next day when the grout is well dried.
Deposit the
candle and light!
